BSNL 5G FWA plans in India start at Rs 999 per month. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has taken 5G technology to a new level in India with the soft launch of its Quantum 5G — a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. Official details of this significant development have been provided by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
The important announcement was made in Hyderabad on June 18, 2025. The Free Press Journal wrote that the service is India’s first indigenously developed, SIM-free FWA platform and marks a significant milestone in digital connectivity.
What is FWA?

BSNL’s Quantum 5G FWA is an innovative fixed wireless internet technology that delivers a fiber-like broadband experience using 5G radio connectivity. Without the need for SIM cards, this service allows customers to set up 5G gateways at their homes or offices easily. The technology is built on BSNL’s “Direct-to-Device” platform, which enables devices to authenticate themselves without a SIM.
This new service from BSNL is primarily targeted at the business and enterprise sectors. It serves as an advanced alternative to traditional broadband and leased line services. With the innovative Q-5G platform, users can access high-speed internet of up to 100 Mbps through plans starting at Rs. 999 per month. In addition, BSNL will offer higher-tier plans with faster speeds and more data for customers with greater requirements.
The pilot launch of this service will begin in September 2025 in some major cities including Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Pune, and will be expanded across the country in a phased manner, outlets like Live Hindustan have widely reported. With this, BSNL is coming to the forefront of connectivity based on indigenous technology. By providing SIM-free and fast connectivity, this service will fuel the digital revolution in India.
BSNL has reached a significant milestone in the Indian telecom sector with its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. The native 5G standalone core system powering this service will not only support commercial use but also serve as the foundation for various enterprise-specific solutions — including network slicing and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) — aimed at delivering enhanced connectivity and performance to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and smart manufacturing clusters.
The Quantum 5G FWA system is a fully indigenously developed, SIM-free solution that showcases India’s manufacturing-grade technology capabilities. All key components — the core network, Radio Access Network (RAN), and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) — have been developed by domestic vendors under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
With this, BSNL has become India’s first telecom company to offer fully indigenous 5G FWA technology. This marks a strong example of corporate self-reliance, technological innovation, and steady progress toward the goals of Digital India. The Economic Times also offers further analysis on the company’s entry into fixed wireless services.
BSNL has initially introduced two major introductory plans as part of its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service. The first offers 100 Mbps speed for Rs. 999 per month, while the second provides 300 Mbps speed for Rs. 1,499. These plans are aimed at delivering a fast and reliable internet experience to users. Through this service, BSNL’s gateway devices will be able to connect directly to the existing 5G tower infrastructure. The initial launch took place in Hyderabad, and with the technology capable of reaching about 85% of homes in the city, it is set for rapid expansion, as explained in an article by Varindia.
